KTM X-Bow Prototype - Carbon Fiber Goodness
By Busy Door Blogger | June 14, 2007
I’ve never heard about KTM until I seen this. They are a motorcycle builder from Austria and they released a new roadster called the X-bow, A.K.A crossbow.
This picture just totally caught my attention of the car:

It’s super lightweight at about 1500 hundred pounds and it contains an engine designed by Audi. The four cylinder propels the roadster setting down 220 hp with an option to bump it up to 300 horses. That’s a lot of power for a car weighing 1500 lbs!
With that you can pick Audi’s smooth shifting DSG transmission. For those that don’t know what that is, its an automated clutch system transmission, so you don’t loose all that power normal torque converters do. Think same power of manual with convenience of an automatic when wanted. Of course, die hard gearheads still can pick a six-speed manual
What can it do? In 3.9 seconds KTM says the x-bow will hit 62 mph. Pretty impressive.
Some oddities for the car is no windshield. I sure wouldn’t want a rock coming flying at me while going 60 mph! But they will fix that with its own specially designed helmets.
With a base price of 40,000 euros you should see some cruising around over in euro-land. With only 500 units a year built, it will be limited so you’ll have to act fast to get one!
Here’s a little video of the X-Bow to wet your appetite:
